A Second-Story was added to an existing One-Story ranch home in Sherman Oaks, CA. The challenge was to minimize the addition that occupied the entire existing house, except the garage, while preserving most of the existing first floor. This was achieved by raising the ridge of the roof, and creating dormer windows for two bedrooms above the Living and Dining areas at the front of the house. A larger two-storied Entry was created, accommodating the new Staircase, and also a new Master Suite and a covered Deck facing back were added. |
